Only 16 more days until spring!!!!!
Ah, if only there were only 16 more days of snow on the ground......but alas I know that, that would only be wishful thinking. The snow is at that yucky, dirty stage. Melting in a lot of areas but the big snow drifts are all dirty and muddy. The roads are telling of that awful stage as well because the potholes are appearing all over the place, seemingly out of no where. On my way to and from work I feel like I'm in the middle of an earth quake as I try to dodge the million of them.
I love the thought that spring is almost here! There is something about having a long, cold winter to make you appreciate the beauty of life. The beauty of watching the birds come back from their migrations southward, the beauty and excitement of spotting the first flower of the season, the beauty of seeing how a seemingly dead forest can turn green with new life shooting through the dead branches.
Spring is about new life. Spring speaks hope, hope that I don't indeed live in the North Pole and that it won't snow forever and ever and that I won't have to wear a coat and boots year around! Yet, spring can also teach us about ourselves. Our hearts without Jesus are like the cold frozen waves, and the dirty snow drifts. Think of the potential for those cold frozen waves, with the warmth of the sun those frozen waves can turn into something extremely powerful yet peaceful. There is nothing like watching the sunset on a beautiful lake on a warm evening and it's just not the same when the waves are frozen. When the Son of Righteousness comes into our heart, that frozen heart then has the chance to become a beautiful masterpiece. No longer does it have to stay the way it was it now has the chance to be everything it was created to be. To accept Jesus Christ as your personal Savior, accepting His Lordship, His complete control in every area of your life is to accept the beauty of springtime. The springtime of new life in Christ. The choice is up to each one of us. My prayer and desire is that each one of us choose the beauty of springtime that only Jesus Christ can offer.
